Metro-Goldwyn Mayer/screenshot The gangster comedy "Get Shorty" will be the latest movie to get the TV show treatment . The adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel that starred John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman, and Rene Russo was a big hit when it came out in 1995. The premise of tough-guy gangsters up against Hollywood wanna-be tough guys had a great mix of comedy, drama, and romance. Now cable channel Epix thinks it can take those elements to make a great TV series. Executive produced by Davey Holmes ("Shameless," "In Treatment"), the show will follow Miles Daly, former muscle for a Nevada crime family, who moves out to Hollywood to become a movie producer. A little different spin on Leonard's story, which followed Miami mobster Chili Palmer as he goes to LA to collect a debt and sticks around to sell a movie script. "Get Shorty" has a lifetime gross of over $115 million and spawned the sequel "Be Cool.

Traversing the lochs and waterways of this awe-inspiring region on a barge holiday is one of the most relaxing and illuminating ways to unlock the secrets of the storied Scottish Highlands. Visitors get to see the highlands from a very different vantage, and there's something quite special about this 'big picture' view that affords a deeper understanding of the scope of its beauty. Among the historical attractions included on the itinerary of many barge holidays through the Scottish Highlands is the picturesque Eilean Donan castle.

Eilean Donan Castle

Set on a tiny island jutting out into a loch, the first sight of the castle's dramatic silhouette against a brooding sky is unfailingly evocative - one can almost hear the hooves of knights and cries of battle echoing around the highlands.

The tidal island on which the castle sits is at the juxtaposition of three lochs - Loch Duich, Loch Long, and Loch Alsh. The island is so small that, at first glance, it appears as if the beautiful stone castle is actually hovering over the water. Visitors can cross over the arched stone bridge that links it to the mainland and explore the beautifully preserved interiors of the castle, including the wood-beamed grandeur of the Great Hall.

The site has a history dating back at least 800 years and through at least four incarnations of the castle. It served for many centuries as the stronghold of two great Scottish clans - the Macraes and the Mackenzies. In the 18th century, however, the Mackenzies' role in the Jacobite rebellions led to retribution from the government of the day, who razed the castle to the ground. It wasn't until the 20th century that the castle was reconstructed under the supervision of Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap.

Preserved for Posterity

Its picture-perfect profile and romantic ambience makes the castle a popular wedding venue, but such is the drama and theatre of this fairy-tale setting that it has also been immortalised on film, on many occasions.

A number of high-profile movies have been shot in and around the castle. The best-known (and the reason why so many visitors experience a certain déjà vu) was the iconic Highlander - in which the timelessness of the castle's exterior and the harsh, haunting backdrop of the highlands made the ideal setting for a story set in the 16th century. In the James Bond classic, The World is Not Enough, the castle took on a somewhat more modern appearance, as the headquarters of British secret intelligence agency MI6.

Authentic, timeless and steeped in legend, Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most recognisable icons of the Scottish Highlands and a magnificently preserved piece of 13th century history.

Drama Cool

Drama Cool and adventure is best when it is dealt with time-bound sequences of events. This is exactly what the drama series 24 presents to the viewer. It brings together many fictional people and organizations mostly in some scenario that when you watch regularly, builds itself to be a great political thriller. Each season, the base of the story is always such plots, and the characters are woven accordingly and to perfection. The only character to have been a part of every season and every episode, is the character of Jack Bauer, which is played by Kiefer Sutherland. The rest of the cast of 24 are either completely new, planned according to the situation, or if they are old, then they appear in some episodes of the season.

When you watch 24, it is the pace of the drama that keeps you glued to the show and this along with all the other aspects of a fast-paced action thriller, has made the series top the popularity and rating charts year after year and season after season. The character of Jack Bauer is an agent with a fictional organization of the United States called Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). This organization is the center of all the activities in all but one of the 8 seasons of the show. The organization is run under direct federal control. It has basically two important departments: one is the external one that comprises of agents and field officials like Jack Bauer, and the other is the internal one which has analysts and technical people.

The show has a pattern that it follows in terms of its episodes, and that is, that they consist of narrative twists, which end in a cliffhanger fashion that results in the viewers not missing any of the episodes. The viewers have loved the show so much, that they search for it and watch 24 online as well. The previous seasons are also quite popular on the internet. In fact, the series has been in a class of its own, as there have not been any television series that presents one hour of activities in 60 minute episodes, and is so directed. Therefore the uniqueness of the show also made people watch 24 regularly on the network, and now online.

The final season presented the best season story till date with a star cast that was truly multi ethnical. There were actors featuring from other countries and nationalities as well. The plot was a global one as well, with the president of an imaginary Islamic country being the target of a death plot. You should watch the final season to get a true grip of what 24 is all about.
